Elizabeth Wong, Director of Licensing and Head of Fintech Unit, Intermediaries at the Securities and Futures Commission, kicked off the event by sharing the key features and strategic direction for the VASP regime. She was then joined by Anthony Ng, CEO of the Hong Kong Virtual Asset Exchange, and Benjamin Quinlan, CEO and Managing Partner of Quinlan & Associates, in a discussion on the opportunities and challenges for the virtual asset industry. Speakers shared their perspectives on such issues as the key considerations for developing a regulatory framework that balances investor protection against a crypto-friendly environment, the prospects of applying virtual assets in the Metaverse and future iterations of the digital space, as well as the potential impact of recent ‘crypto winters’ on the industry. ]]>
The Forum began with a welcome note by Chamber Chairman Betty Yuen while Wilson Kwong, Chairman of the Chamber’s Environment and Sustainability Committee, moderated the discussion session.]]>
Eric Ma, Chairman of the Chamber’s Real Estate & Infrastructure Committee, presided over the briefing session, while Chamber Vice Chairman Douglas Woo proposed a vote of thanks. He added that the Chamber looked forward to studying and commenting on the refined proposal in due course.
