Company Background
Pacific Century Group was established in October 1993 by Richard Li, the Group's Chairman and Chief Executive. The Group's core businesses comprise digital technology, financial services and infrastructure development.
The roots of Pacific Century Group can be traced back to STAR TV, the first pan-Asian satellite television network which was founded by Mr Li in 1990. Under his leadership, STAR TV quickly became Asia's dominant satellite television network. Within less than three years, the network had reached 53 million subscribers' homes in more than 50 countries.
In September 1994, Pacific Century Group acquired control of a publicly-listed company in Singapore. Renamed Pacific Century Regional Developments Limited, the company is active in property investment and infrastructure development. In August 1999, the Group acquired Hong Kong-listed Tricom Holdings Limited which was renamed Pacific Century CyberWorks Limited and became the Group's technology flagship.
