Most businesses in Hong Kong would like to see the resumption of business travel soon, particularly with Mainland China. It could bring about greater economic activities and along with that managing potential corporate and individual tax risks associated with cross-border travel that would require more attention.

In this seminar, the speaker will discuss the PRC tax implications associated with cross-border work arrangements and how the adoption of technology can be useful in managing some of these challenges. The following topics will be elaborated:

• Tax exposure for companies deemed to have a PE
• How should companies track travel days and does the adoption of technology help?

Chee Weng Lee, Global Head of Tax, Tricor Global

Chee Weng is Tricor’s Global Head of Tax based in Hong Kong. He has over 30 years’ tax and business experience with deep knowledge and understanding of the tax considerations throughout the entire life cycle of businesses in real estate and hospitality, consumer products and retail, technology financial institutions and family offices. He works on cross-border issues, tax compliance and reporting, legal entity rationalization, obtaining advance tax rulings, corporate restructuring and managing tax controversies. He also focuses on the tax impact on businesses as they embark on their digital journey and works with them to transform their finance and tax functions to ensure their readiness for e-filing with the tax authorities. In the area of family offices, he works with private clients to conceptualize and implement tax structures for their preferred jurisdiction. Chee Weng is a Certified Tax Adviser, TIHK, CPA (Practicing), HKICPA, and a Fellow of the Australian Society of CPAs. He has a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, Australia and a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management.

Notes - Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of payment, on a first come first served basis.
- Booking transfer is allowed for corporate members with advanced notice, walk-ins are normally not accepted.
- The Chamber reserves the right to decline any booking or cancel the event. In such case, a full refund of the participation fee will be issued.
- No refund will be made for last minute cancellations or no-shows. If the booking is cancelled at least 7 days before the event, and in such cases the refund will be subjected to a 10% administration fee, or HK$100 deduction, whichever is higher.
- Members paying with their BOC HKGCC Visa Card will enjoy a 30% discount on their reservation. The discount is only applicable to the card holder, and does not extend to their guests. The discount cannot be used in conjunction with Chamber Coupons.

- Priority is given to corporate members. The decision to accept or decline any booking shall be at sole discretion of the Chamber.
- Participants agree to indemnify the Chamber and the hosting party all liabilities for property damage, physical injury or death in relation to this event. Participants are advised to take their own insurance against all risks.
