Although ESG Reporting has been implemented in Hong Kong for some time, many believe that much more could be done to promote awareness on the benefits and wider adoption of such a disclosure system. This is particularly compelling when the power of ESG as described in the opening paragraph is taken into account. Consistent with developments worldwide, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange recently proposed upgrading ESG strategy and reporting standards for issuers by requiring more comprehensive and uniform reporting.
To help identify the opportunities arising from ESG Reporting in the property sector, the Chamber is delighted to have invited Dr Nadira Lamrad, Assistant Director – Sustainability & ESG Advisory from the Business Environment Council, to speak on ways an ESG culture could be harnessed to drive shared-value creation. In her presentation, Dr Lamrad will share insights on the latest trends with ESG Reporting in the areas of green finance, green buildings and international sustainability benchmarks. She will also look at the ESG performances of real estate companies in Hong Kong and propose further measures that developers could consider to better fulfil investor expectations.
