The 2019 Annual Sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (Two Sessions) are scheduled to commence on 3 and 5 March respectively in Beijing.
In his New Year address, President Xi Jinping suggested that China would continue to pursue the Belt and Road Initiative, press ahead with the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, and work for a better world in 2019. "China's reforms will never stop and its door will open only even wider", he added.
Although the growth rate of China is slowing down and the trade relations between China and the United States remain volatile, the Director of the Department for Comprehensive Statistics at the National Bureau of Statistics, Mao Shengyong, emphasized that China was working hard for quality growth rather than fast expansion.
To learn about China's latest national strategies and development, we have invited Mr Anthony Wu, Chamber Former Chairman, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee; Mr Jeffrey Lam, Chamber LegCo Representative, Member of the CPPCC National Committee and Vice Chairman of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese, and Mr Stanley Hui, Member of Chamber General Committee and Member of the CPPCC National Committee to speak at a roundtable on 21 March.
