A group of Chamber members visited the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) on 10 July. The institute is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

ASTRI CEO Hugh Chow welcomed the delegation and explained ASTRI’s mission to help businesses from both the public and private sectors to come up with new and pragmatic ways to address operating pain points and optimise service delivery.

During the tour, Chow and his team demonstrated a number of ASTRI’s R&D achievements. These included cutting-edge solutions such as a compatible spectrometer that can be used to identify and classify gemstones, an AI chatbot for both Cantonese and English, and the Electronic Road Pricing system.

Chamber CEO George Leung joined the visit. “What ASTRI offers is definitely of tremendous interest to our members who are looking to enhance their operations and competitiveness,” Leung said. “I believe that there is plenty of room for further cooperation between ASTRI and the Chamber.”
