A guided tour of the AliPayHK unmanned store in Olympian City on 28 September gave Chamber members the opportunity to experience some of the latest developments in mobile payments in the retail industry. On entering the store, they had their faces scanned which generated a QR code on a screen to then be scanned on their mobile. Besides facial recognition, members learned about some of the other core technologies used in the store, including RFID checkout technology, robotics for serving freshly brewed coffee and the alarmed security system.
