Privatization of Hong Kong International Airport

The government announced in
August its intention to proceed with the part-privatization of the Airport Authority and
the required legislation would be introduced into the Legislative Council in 2004. The
privatization of the airport is a major undertaking. Other than benefitting government's
capital revenue, it has important implications for the airport operator, investors,
airport users, as well as the general trade and business community. The Chamber held a
seminar on this important issue on November 20 to provide a forum for stakeholders to
share views on the approach to, and the issues involved in, a successful privatization
