
Over 100 Hong Kong leaders representing the government, business sector, academics and
Legco attended the Quad Forum 2000 on Nov. 2.
Held annually since 1997, the forum aims to engage key officials, businessmen,
academics and politicians in discussion, debate and brainstorming to spark ideas on the
policy agenda for the promotion of the services sector.
The Financial Secretary Donald Tsang opened the morning panel discussion session and
later hosted the Dinner Forum.
During the morning session, participants discussed: "Strategic Cooperation Between
Hong Kong, Shenzhen & the Pearl River Delta;" "Refining the SAR Advantage:
Small & Efficient Government;" "Marketing Hong Kong in the New
Economy;" and "Refining the SAR Advantage: More Efficient Markets." These
four panel sessions were complemented by a follow-up session over dinner at Government
House.
Quad Forum 2000 was jointly organised by the Hong Kong Coalition of Service Industries
of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the Business and Services Promotion Unit of
the Commerce and Industry Bureau, and the School of Business of the University of Hong
Kong.
