CHRISTOPHER CHENG
BECOMES NEW CHAIRMAN OF HKGCC
The Chairman of USI Holdings Ltd and
Managing Director of Wing Tai Corporation Ltd Christopher Cheng has been elected
Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) for the coming year.
At the first meeting of the new General
Committee immediately after HKGCC's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 24 April, Christopher
Cheng was elected Chairman of HKGCC. Mr Cheng was the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber
last year and has served on the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council for 14 years. The
Chairman of the past two year, C C Tung, Chairman of Orient Overseas
(International) Ltd, stepped down after the AGM.
Succeeding Mr Cheng as Deputy Chairman is Anthony
Nightingale, Director of Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd. The two Vice-Chairmen are
respectively Dr Lily Chiang, President of E1 Media Technology Ltd, and David
Eldon, Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd.
Two new members have joined the General
Committee of HKGCC, the governing body of the Chamber. They are namely Jeffrey Lam,
Managing Director of Forward Winsome Industries Ltd, and Manohar Chugh, Chairman of
Nisha Electronic Industries Ltd. They were elected at the AGM to replace C C Tung and
Simon Lee who retired from the General Committee.
Other members on the General Committee are Graham
Brant, Chan Wing Kee, Linus Cheung, Tony Fung, Dr Hari Harilela, James Hughes-Hallet, John
Hung, Raymond Kwok, Denis Lee, Victor Li, J B M Litmaath, Liu Guoyuan, Dr Liu Jinbao, the
Hon Henry Tang, Anthony Wu, Alex Ye, K K Yeung, Andrew Yuen, and HKGCC's Legislative
Council representative the Hon James Tien.
