Grand Hyatt Welcomes Back Old Face

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong may have a new General Manager and Area Vice President but he is actually a familiar face. Richard Greaves was appointed in March this year, having started his career as a Management Trainee at Hyatt Carlton Tower in 1984. However, he first joined Grand Hyatt Hong Kong in 1996 as an Executive Assistant Manager – Food and Beverage before moving on to become the General Manager of Grand Hyatt Shanghai and Area Vice President for the Shanghai region.

“Returning to this hotel brings back many fond memories, and I was delighted to see so many familiar faces from my previous time, a true testament to the spirit within the strong team I have been fortunate to inherit,” said Greaves. He even secretly checked out how his previous office from over 20 years ago looked on his first day back, which had been converted to a function room.

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, the flagship Grand Hyatt hotel in the Asia-Pacific region which was opened in 1989, recently completed a massive four-year renovation of 542 rooms and suites, Grand Club Lounge, Grand Ballroom and Grand Cafe.

Along with nine acclaimed restaurants and bars providing authentic cuisines from all around the world, the hotel has 22 flexible event venues including the Grand Ballroom which can accommodate up to 1,600 guests.

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong joined the Chamber family in 2006 due to its close connection with businesses in Hong Kong. “As the Chamber of Commerce with the longest history in Hong Kong, HKGCC not only provides a great platform for members to connect, it also shares market intelligence that we find very useful,” said Greaves. Sharing the same values as the Chamber, Greaves always put people as his first priority, “I do believe care and empathy are crucial in many things we do as a company and will go a long way. We care for our employees so they can be their best. We care for our guests so we strive to understand their needs and their points of view.”

“It is truly an honour and a privilege to have the opportunity to return to Grand Hyatt Hong Kong after working in different countries in Asia. I am delighted to be joining a dynamic team, to be able to support them to be their best and contribute towards the continued success of this famous hotel after its recent renovations,” concluded Greaves.
