HKGCC’s Photo Contest Celebrates 20th Anniversary of HKSAR

For Immediate Release

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) will organize “The Wonders of Hong Kong Photo Competition,” from 28 March to 5 May, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the HKSAR. The event will welcome anyone in Hong Kong, both local citizens and visitors over 18 years old, to enter by submitting their photo that portrays a prosperous and energetic Hong Kong.

Chamber Chairman Stephen Ng said that the competition aims at engaging Hong Kong residents and tourists to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China and at taking pride in our accomplishments. “We want to celebrate our vibrant and prosperous city, which all 7 million people in Hong Kong are proud to call home,” he said, adding that, “the event is part of the Chamber’s efforts to contribute towards building a better Hong Kong in which we can all live and work.”

Chamber CEO Shirley Yuen said she hopes the public will embrace the spirit of the photo competition and share their unique perspective of our city through their camera lens.

“We are giving away some great prizes worth up to HK$54,000. Each participant can upload up to two entries to the official website, which is www.wonders.hk , to get the chance to win prizes worth between $500 and $8,000,” she added.

Yuen also expressed her gratitude to the project partner Professional Photographers Asia Community, media partner Headline Daily, sponsors The Wharf (Holdings) Ltd, and Wheelock and Company Limited, as well as prizes sponsor Phottix, and supporting organizations Ocean Park and DCFever.com for their assistance in publicizing the event.

The results will be announced on the official website www.wonders.hk in mid-June, and an awards presentation ceremony and cocktail reception will be held on 6 July. The winning photos will be exhibited in Admiralty and Kowloon Tong MTR stations respectively from 6 to 9 July and 10 to 13 August.

“The Wonders of Hong Kong Photo Competition,” is an accredited event celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
