On behalf of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, and personally, I am writing to offer you heartiest congratulations on winning the election for the fifth term of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The fact that you received more than two-thirds of the valid votes cast clearly illustrates how the vast majority of the voters respect you and have full confidence in your abilities to lead Hong Kong.

We sincerely hope that with your experience on the campaign trail, combined with your solid public administration record, you will be able to, as you mentioned in your winning speech: “heal the divide and ease the frustration; and unite our society to move forward.”

The Chamber has always enjoyed a long-standing partnership of working closely with the Government. As you saw when you called on the Chamber during your campaign, we stand ready to work with you and provide our ideas and expertise. As I write, the Chamber is drafting a submission on issues and proposals that we think should be on the agenda of the new Administration. We look forward to sharing these with you and discussing them in more detail as you prepare to take on this huge responsibility at a very crucial time in Hong Kong’s history.
